Are you a sushi fanatic or do you have trouble getting past the thought of eating raw fish? Well, it turns out that our national indulgence in this tasty and visually enticing treat from Japan may also be good for our health.

Sushi is generally made with white rice and sweet rice vinegar, fresh vegetables, seaweed, sesame seeds, and cooked or raw seafood. Like many other Japanese foods, sushi tends to be low in fat, cholesterol, and calories.

In addition, sushi that has seafood as an ingredient is often an excellent source of heart-healthy omega-3 fatty acids, which lower the risk of blood clots and decrease triglyceride levels.

The fresh vegetables in most sushi also have essential vitamins and minerals. The seaweed wrapping for these rolls is rich in micronutrients and phytochemicals.

A few cautions if you are an avid sushi eater but have high blood pressure or are pregnant or nursing. Sushi made with seaweed tends to be a little higher in sodium, as is the soy sauce that each piece is dipped in.

Too much sodium in the diet contributes to high blood pressure. And if you are pregnant or nursing, be sure to avoid sushi made from fish, either raw or cooked. The raw fish may carry unwanted bacteria and any sushi made from fish, whether cooked or uncooked, is likely to contain high levels of mercury.

In the News: Contraceptive Pill Use May Cut Cancer Risk

The contraceptive pill, or "the pill," which uses the hormones estrogen and progestin to prevent pregnancy, is currently used by about 100 million women worldwide. A number of studies have suggested possible links between contraceptive pill use and breast cancer, strokes, heart attacks, and blood clots, raising concerns about the medication's safety. Now, data from a 36 year study show that cancer risk was up to 12% lower in women who took the pill. However, those who used the medication for longer than 8 years were actually at increased risk of developing cancer.

Just Do It!

I love to exercise. Although I think my weight is normal, I still love to go walking and burn out calories. I think it helps my breathing. I don't strain myself though because when I do, my chest aches and I would have a hard time breathing. Too much work is also not good for me. I will have asthma attack then.

Sometimes I get so lazy doing my little exercise. I get that burnt out feeling. I think if I am walking or jogging with a partner, I would probably work harder because I think it would be very helpful for me if there will be someone who'll push me to just do it even if I don't feel like doing it. Plus, I might be forced to follow our schedules. Hahaha. Hmmm...I think it's time to look for a work out partner. The search starts..now!

Facial care

The first thing we notice at someone is his face. Whether we admit it or not, beauty matters to most people although the cliche' that says beauty is in the eye of the beholder is somewhat true. I know beauty is skin deep but because the face is the very first thing people notice, it is important that we take care of our face. A good facial routine will even make someone more beautiful and that's of course aside from the radiant beauty from within.

I believe there are 3 steps to a good facial care routine. If you wear make up, the more that you need to have a good facial routine. A routine of CLEANSING, TONING, & MOISTURIZING. Washing your face every morning will also freshen up your look.

1. Cleansing - it will remove old make-up, the grime and grease that have been accumulated during your the day. To make the job easier, keep your hair off your face.

2. Toning - toners will remove all traces of make up and dirt that remain after cleansing.

3. Moisturizing - it is necessary to moisturize or skin to remain the smooth and supple. The moisturizers will protect our skin from the drying effect of the weather and will form a film over our skin. It will contain and augment our skin's natural moisture.

There are so many facial cleansers, toners and moisturizers in the market. It is always good to select one that matches our skin type to boost the effects of this three. While you do this routine everyday, you are also massaging your skin, thus helping the blood to flow good and that alone will give a good skin care. Above all, good laughters and smiles always helps boost your natural beauty. So laugh often and exercise a lot.
