Foldable Car

The picture on the right is Franco Vairani, a PhD student in the Department of Architecture at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, looks over models of the City Car, a collapsible, electric, battery powered car he designed for his thesis at MIT, in Cambridge, Massachusetts November 13, 2007. I got the picture from Reuters.com and upon reading the news I learned that scientists at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology are currently working on a foldable car. A car that could potentially fit in a spot one-eighth the size of that required by the average car, sounds very interesting! I hope they can make this work because this will really ease traffic congestion and would solve the problem of not enough or crowded parking lot. I also learned that they are working on it on a rechargeable battery, that will surely help minimize environmental pollution. The vehicle has not yet been built, though engineers hope to begin manufacturing it within the next three to four years. This requires careful planning and study but a miniature version of the car is now on display in a campus museum so this means that they really are working on it well. Read more about this news
